‘’Kent Traffic Law – You Get What Pay For”
I was caught by an officer on mobile patrol speeding in excess of 100mph. I am a quantity surveyor and run my own business which requires me to travel widely and at short notice to different sites throughout London and the South East. Loss of my license would have meant I would have been unable to meet my contractual commitments with consequent loss of profit and reputation. It was vital for me to retain my license so I engaged the services of Sunil Rupasinha whom I knew to be a barrister specialising in representing motorists.
Sunil suggested we meet for a conference to discuss the detail of my case and to prepare my mitigation well in advance of the court hearing date. When we met I found him to be efficient and capable. He went through my case very carefully indeed leaving no stone unturned. Some of the questions he asked me seemed to be irrelevant. However, when he summarised how he felt the case should be presented this brought everything into focus for me and I understood the relevance of his enquiries. I felt reassured that I had an expert handling my case who would obtain the best result possible for me.
Several weeks later we met at court. Sunil was extremely professional. He found a room for us to have a further private consultation to check on any updates since we had met and to remind me of the procedure in court. He put my case to the magistrates succinctly and persuasively explaining to them how a ban would cripple my business. I was very pleasantly surprised to avoid a ban altogether. Although I was given 6 points, the fine and costs were clearly kept to a minimum.
I have no hesitation in recommending Sunil’s services to anyone facing road traffic prosecution. You will be engaging a consummate professional who knows how to get you the best possible result.’’
I have been instructing Sunil Rupasinha to represent my clients for many years and continue to do so. Most recently I instructed him to represent one of my clients who had driven his car head on into an oncoming vehicle and then left the scene. He was subsequently arrested. The passengers in the other vehicle had to be cut free by the fire brigade. When my client was arrested and provided a breath specimen he was between 3-4 times over the breath alcohol limit. My client had always intended to plead ‘Guilty’ but I feared that he would be imprisoned based on the gravity of his conduct and the sentencing guidelines (which suggested an immediate custodial sentence should normally be imposed). Mr Rupasinha first saw my client in conference at my office where he soon gained his trust and confidence. The advice as to how best to present the plea in mitigation was clear and realistic. At court, Mr Rupasinha had to challenge a number of factual inaccuracies (the CPS had exaggerated the case against my client) before mitigating (which he did expertly in my view). My client was extremely relieved and grateful to Mr Rupasinha for helping him to avoid the imposition of an immediate custodial sentence. I have no hesitation in recommending the services of Mr Rupasinha to any solicitor or member of the public who needs expert representation in court.
I was found to have been speeding at over double the speed limit (over 60mph in a 30mph zone). Avoiding a driving disqualification was essential from an employment perspective. Following representation by Mr Rupasinha I was made to feel at ease from the outset and thereafter felt very confident throughout my case with his manner of working. He was able to constructively put my case across in court with, what I would say was, great effect. I was helped and guided throughout the process by him and strongly believe that without his representation the result I obtained in court would not have been at all possible (a disqualification was avoided). I therefore highly recommend Mr Rupasinha’s services to anyone who requires excellent representation and the best possible chance of a positive result.
Sunil made appearing in court to face the prospect of a ‘totting’ disqualification as bearable an experience as something so potentially traumatic could be. From first to last he was realistic about the chances of success, worked through the process with me clearly and thoughtfully, so I always knew what I had to do to prepare my mitigation bundle, and, performed brilliantly in court so that, against the odds, I kept my driving licence and got away with a light fine! Highly recommended, clearly a 5 star road traffic defence barrister.
Sunil is a very experienced and highly regarded advocate whom I have instructed when working for HMRC in civil cash forfeiture applications. He always brought a very professional and thorough approach to his work. I am now in independent private practice and have continued to instruct Sunil. It is clear that his skills are equally well suited to the defence arena. I recommend him to anyone requiring a top class advocate.
Dear Dirk, I just want to thank you for your assistance in our recent employment tribunal. We were all grateful for your professional yet charming manner throughout the proceedings. You made us feel as though you had a genuine interest in our case and calmly guided us through our first such tribunal, reducing our stress levels by some measure. We felt that you were a ‘safe pair of hands’, and the icing on the cake at the end of it all was that we won! I will not hesitate to recommend colleagues to you for advice and assistance.
Thank you to your company for putting me in contact with a direct access barrister, who I felt went far beyond a service for a fixed fee. He more than stood his ground on a case which should have probably not gone my way.
Through his arguments I am now sitting at home enjoying a glass of wine knowing I shall still have a house tomorrow.
Once again many thanks.
Thank you so much for your help, wish I had found you sooner
