Terms of Booking

When booking a barrister’s professional services on our system,  you confirm that you have read, understand, and aree to the following terms of business:

Your Role

When accessing a barrister’s services under the Public / Direct Access scheme, you must ensure that:

  1. you have access to a computer, email, and the internet.
  2. you can provide sufficient proof of identification and registered address.
  3. you either:
    3.1 have good working knowledge of English; or
    3.2 have access to an interpreter; or
    3.3 specify that you require a barrister with knowledge of a particular language.
  4. you are confident about following the barrister’s guidance during the course of your matter with regard to your documentation and corresponding with the courts and other parties.
Fees
  1. The fee paid for the selected service will be authorised as an advanced “fixed fee” payment, which includes the barrister’s fee and a standard administration charge.
  2. If any additional work is required outside of the scope of the service description, further fees will apply, but may be paid separately and will not be taken without your prior authorisation.
  3. The barister will not receive their fee until the work under the service has been carried out.
Your Barrister
  1. When payment has been authorised, you will be notified of a barrister (or choice of barristers) with relevant expertise and availability within 24 hours.
  2. When a barrister has accepted your instructions under the service, your contract will be with directly with the barrister, and subject to the terms and conditions the Client Care Letter.
  3. If for any reason a suitable barrister is not available to fulfil the work required in your particular circumstances,  your fee will be refunded in full within 7 days.
